Venetian Flight

1. Choose a mythological/magical creature as your theme and write or link a short description in your artist comments.
2. Design a costume for the carnival in Venice for a woman, pay attention to detail and go as crazy and creative as you like/can. (play with shapes and structures)
3.Design a mask, fitting your theme and also pay attention to the hair/hat
4. Must be a colored piece!


In Greek mythology, Pegasus (Greek: Πήγασος, Pégasos, 'strong' was a winged horse sired by Poseidon, in his role as horse-god, and foaled by the Gorgon Medusa.[1] He was the brother of Chrysaor.


Pegasus...n u think of those extended wings in flight, i just thought how about having a mask extending outward in the shape of pegasus taking a flight...if this isnt possible in the construction of mask an alternative option is to include it in the headpiece (btw it is...its just an option if a heavy mask is to be avoided)...the wings are adorned with silver crystals on the borders near the mask and lined in silver on the white pristine wings...the back viel is made up in 3 layers...1st one is a bit of feathers, the second is laced and third is plain satin...the dress near the neck silk tafetta ruffles a present beneath which is a wrap around jester collar...i avoided the idea of fur as before because then it would be sort of going over the top so i opted for a wrap around jester collar in two layers with second one having alternate silver and white bands...the second part of bodice which is conjoined to first covering the rest of the body is made up of silk brocade fabric...the third section around, the middle one has crystals arnd it and side section is made of lace cloth...the gown is in layers depicting the layers of wings...the first two layers are silk and have crystals spread on the edges...the third and last layer are made up of silk organza with embroidery and slight bead work randomly on the swirly thingies in a few places not taking away from the silk above...it mite appear a bit as a hotch potch because of overlapping with the part of that layer behind and is visible from the front ...the fourth layer is made of silk brocade...the black pants are visible from the see thru section are ruffled the gloves are black the last three layers i beleieve have to be sewn together for them to give the affect i desire as shown in illustration......the sleeves are sort of a jacket with puffed sleeves...tafetta and then going smooth ruffling a bit at the wrists ending with black gloves...except the gloves n pants the whole dress is pristine in white..the look is finished off with a black n silver bejeweled loose belt of black pearls(which i absolutely love)
